Senior picture outfit ideas that will rock your session!
First of all, CONGRATULATIONS! Whether you’re graduating from high school, college, or a university. YOU FREAKING DID IT!
When you’re finding the perfect outfit for your senior session, it should reflect who you are as a person. I want you to feel confident and comfortable. After all, your senior photos should show how amazing you are!
In order to prepare for your session, you need to decide on a beautiful location. Once that’s done, I will say this again and again; COLORS are going to be your best friend! Aside from wearing clothes that you love, colors will make a huge impact in your photos. You’ll need to decide whether or not you want to blend in with your location or if you want to stand out. The choice is all yours because this is YOUR celebration and you will be able to look back onto this memory forever!
Some outfit inspiration you can never go wrong with is a college t-shirt, jeans, and sneakers; I vouch that denim looks AMAZING on everyone; Textured clothing is a great way to bring life to your photos; Flowy dresses bring a lot of motion to your photos, which as you know I LOVE.
Most of the time when we think of an outfit for photos we primarily think about the shirt, dress, or pants. However, jewelry and other accessories will elevate your graduation look to another level!
Don’t forget to take a moment to soak in everything you have just accomplished. I know that have you worked so hard to get to where you are and I am so proud of you!
I love to help my seniors prepare for their sessions as much as I can. When you book your senior photos with me, I send all of my seniors a more in depth guide to style and prepare for their shoot.
Let’s breakdown some of my fav outfits!(:
1. White on denim
White on denim is by far one of my favorite to shoot. This style can be dressed up or dressed down and be super casual. It is awesome to pair it with accessories like jewelry, hats, or school jackets. Plus this style goes with ever type of location! In field like this photo above, on the beach, downtown, in a studio, on campus.. yeah the possibilities are endless!
2. BE BOLD
If you choose a neutral location with soft tones I am giving you the green light to be BOLD! Texture, color, pattern… this is your go ahead to be bold with your selection and stand out. By far one of my favorite combos!
3. Pick a simple pattern for a colorful location!
Patterns can make or break your session location. You don’t want the pattern of your clothing to be overpowering the gorgeous location you choose. The best combo is to go for more bolder patterns with a neutral location and for more colorful locations like the photo above, a soft subtle pattern that doesn’t overpower but still gives the right amount of pop! I am obsessed with this combo.
4. Be you….
You should have at least ONE outfit that makes you feel like YOU! Leave your mommas, friends, aunts, uncles, idk who… but IGNORE their opinion. Wear the outfit that makes you happy, feels like you can be yourself in, and know will boost your confident level 200%! You want all black? GO FOR IT? Want to wear your chunky doc martins…. I AM HERE FOR THAT! Or you want to wear your fancy country get up? YEEHAWWWW LET’ S DO IT! The photo on the bottom is a photo of ME where I feel like me! I feel confident, beautiful, and I know I can be my truest self!
5. Anything with movement!
Clothing with movement is so fun to work with! Flowy dresses, tassels, fringe and anything with movement or texture will add so much opportunity for your senior poses + photos. Plus its cute as heck when your photographer captures it at just the right momentum pose! Want to speak a photographers love language? Add all the textured movement clothing items to your sesh!
